The couple, who famously broke up in 2009 the night before the Grammy Awards when Brown smacked the pop star around, have been on and off for the last year.
Before they rekindled their relationship several months ago, Rihanna admitted to Oprah last summer: "We love each other and we probably always will, and that's not anything we're gonna try to change."
A source told E! News that although the Barbadian beauty will always have feelings for Chris, she is trying to focus on her music career and business ventures, which include a fashion line and fragrance launch. The pop star is currently finishing up her "Diamonds" tour.
Just last week Brown told Matt Lauer on the "Today" show that they were still together and he was remorseful for assaulting Rihanna four years ago. "As far as me and her are concerned, she knows my heart and I know her heart. I'm not really focused on the negative, everything about it is positive for me. I did my 52 weeks of counseling and learned that it was absolutely wrong," he explained.
But apparently it just didn't work out for the pair. Another man didn't come between the couple, the E! source claims; however, Brown was recently spotted hanging out with a mysterious blonde in New York City.
Meanwhile, Rihanna seems to be handling the break up in style. On Monday she tweeted a photo of her bare leg in bed wearing designer heels with the caption: "Evidence of an epic night!!!#wokeupinmyTomFordes."
The singer reportedly hung out at Greystone Manor in West Hollywood with some of her dancers and danced, drank a little tequila, and managed to avoid running into her ex-boyfriend Matt Kemp, who was also at the club.
